This course will concentrate on making a decision when the circumstances fall within Section 42 of the Care Act 2014, thus initiating a safeguarding enquiry. The adult's consent and capacity are integral to the decision to raise a safeguarding concern, and this is explored in detail. Consideration is given to what happens when consent is not met, and how the capacity act and the principle of best interest informs professional decision making.
