Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language

Course Information

Students will understand different types of deafness. They will learn how to communicate with people who are Deaf and hard of hearing. They will learn basic sign language and fingerspelling.

The course will raise awareness of:

  • Different types of deafness and terminology
  • Causes of deafness and facts-and-figures
  • Lipreading, communication tips and technology
  • It will also include Fingerspelling and basic British Sign Language and Casestudies
