The Metropolitan Police previously delivered their NEBOSH training internally on a face-to-face basis, challenges were identified for future delivery due to changes in personnel and the ability to pull delegates to a central location from across London.

Chris Martin from Corporate HR Wellbeing and Safety is responsible for managing the health and safety training to ensure all officers received the appropriate training.

He said, “There was a business need for delivery of the mandated NEBOSH HSL to a number of personnel within the organisation. Internally, we had lost two of the training team who previously delivered the course through retirement and transfer and we were looking for someone to take on the project, with an option to deliver the course online so we could keep continuity of compliance with the course. With Premier Partnership being an approved supplier we went to them with our request.”

Premier understood the difficulties that the pandemic presented for training and certifying officers and were committed to providing the best possible training opportunities for officers in accordance with the current regulations by tailoring the course and upskilling associate trainers to deliver online via the Met’s preferred platform of MS Teams with the learning conducted safely and in compliance with guidelines.

Training delivery commenced in April 2022 with 145 courses delivered to date with 1678 delegates undertaking the training. Another 55 courses will be delivered by the end of March 2023 with another 660 delegates booked onto the sessions with Premier providing experienced associates to deliver the sessions.

The Managed Training Service provided an added benefit to the team at the Met as Chris said, “Premier also took on the admin of the NEBOSH HSL course that included the registration of learners, assessment marking and general maintenance of the training. As this was something that internal trainers previously did this has been a bonus.”

Feedback has been positive with 86% of delegates from over 1000 surveyed saying they would highly recommend the training with an overall satisfaction score for the courses delivered at 92%.
