The Foreign & Commonwealth Office
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has a worldwide network of embassies and consulates, employing over 14,000 people in nearly 270 diplomatic offices. Staff on this FCO international ‘platform’ work for many different UK departments and agencies.
The key priorities for the FCO are:
- Safeguarding the UK’s national security by countering terrorism and weapons proliferation, and working to reduce conflict
- Building the UK’s prosperity by increasing exports and investment, opening markets, ensuring access to resources, and promoting sustainable global growth
- Supporting British nationals around the world through modern and efficient consular services
The FCO works with international organisations to promote UK interests and global security, including the EU, NATO, the United Nations, the UN Security Council and the Commonwealth.
The Diplomatic Academy
The Diplomatic Academy was launched by the FCO in 2015 to build skills and expertise for all UK government staff working on international issues. John Davies, Director of the Diplomatic Academy, said: “In a quest to become the ‘best diplomatic service in the world,’ the UK has now established an institution dedicated to equipping its representatives with the necessary skills, knowledge and tradecraft.”
Premier Partnership has supported the FCO Academy since its conception in 2015 in the delivery of 22 FCO specific learning modules that are accessed through a bespoke virtual platform and accredited by City & Guilds.
Our unique Moodle platform enables FCO learners to identify the learning outcome and assessment criteria for their chosen module of learning in topic areas that include;
- The UK Security Agenda
- Working internationally for the FCO
- Understanding the Origins and Development of the UK
- The European Union and UK Policy Making
- The UK Prosperity Agenda
- UK Foreign Policy and the World
Learners are situated all around the world and include learners in the following locations:
- Baghdad
- Nairobi
- Madrid
- Belgrade
- Tokyo
- Kinshasa
- Chennai
- London
Our unique digital offering is inclusive for learners working in all of the FCO’s 270 Diplomatic Offices.
Our Help Desk team offers 24/7 support for learners, learning leads and line managers and deals with worldwide enquiries and provides ongoing support on a daily basis.
Invigilated tests for learners are booked through our qualifications support teams who ensure that whatever timeline learners are working in test papers and invigilators are booked and results and certificates are forwarded to learners within agreed timelines.
The qualifications team at Premier Partnership is proud to support an initiative for learners who project the UK’s interests and citizens abroad, and protect our international interests, giving us a huge amount of satisfaction in delivering the best possible service and outcomes for the organisation.
