This Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Awareness eLearning course is designed to equip you with essential knowledge about hazardous substances and how to manage them safely in the workplace. Throughout this course, you will explore the UK legal responsibilities under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, learn how to identify hazardous substances, and discover effective control measures to reduce exposure. You’ll also consider how hazardous substances can cause harm and what you can do to mitigate these risks. The course covers key topics such as COSHH signage and the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) in maintaining a safe working environment.

By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and confidence to manage hazardous substances safely, protecting your health, your colleagues, and your workplace.

Course Aim

To raise awareness of the legal responsibilities, risks, and control measures associated with hazardous substances in the workplace, in line with UK COSHH regulations, while ensuring participants are equipped to identify hazardous substances, prevent health risks, and maintain compliance with safety standards.

• Interpret the UK legislative requirements relevant to the use and storage of hazardous substances in your workplace.
• Identify the range of substances in the workplace that relate to COSHH.
• Explain COSHH signage with reference to handling and storing substances.
• Know and understand relevant control measures available to reduce the risks associated with hazardous substances in order to prevent ill health.
