Overview

CONNECT Overview:

CONNECT is the largest IT transformation project ever undertaken within the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). It is not simply an IT refresh: the CONNECT project will transform how the MPS records and uses data, and ultimately improve how the MPS police London.

Job Purpose

The CONNECT training facilitators will be responsible for supporting the delivery of CONNECT training. They will provide policing expertise and context in the topics of intelligence and investigation when training is delivered to superusers and end users for Drop 2. In addition, facilitators will also provide classroom management support alongside external trainers and facilitators Classroom training will run over a 15-week window and this role is key to support fellow Officers and Staff to complete their training and help prepare them for Go Live.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the classroom by sharing policing knowledge and responding to questions and topics raised
  • Seek clarity through appropriate channels on any business processes that may lack precision or detail
  • Ensure potential issues in the classroom, facilities, training environment and training content are identified and escalated through to the CONNECT Training Co-Ordination Centre (CTCC) in a timely manner
  • Support the development of CONNECT and policing knowledge to fellow external training partners to ensure seamless delivery of the training
  • The role holder will be responsible for supporting the training of fellow colleagues to ensure they are ready to perform their role and responsibilities at Drop 2 Go live
  • The role holder will be required to apply their judgement to decision making and determine which issues require escalation to supervisors and other managers.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

    Essential criteria:

  • Recent policing experience having worked for the Metropolitan Police Service within the last 18 months
  • Good knowledge of Police procedures in either of the following subject areas intelligence, investigation, proactive management plans e.g. dev and tac plans, warrants or searches
  • MPS security clearance
  • Experience of briefings or presenting to small/medium sized audiences
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience of using IT systems and an aptitude to adapt to using various corporate IT applications.
  • Working Arrangements:

    Project to start on Monday 4th September and run for 24 weeks with a 2 week shut down for Christmas.

    Team Operating Hours:

    Monday to Sunday 0800 – 1600, with flexibility required as business demands dictate, this may extend to weekends, or to 07:00 – 23:00 if it is decided to deliver 2 sessions per day to accommodate shift workers (ET/LT)
