Personality Disorder

Course Information

This course is designed to introduce understanding the framework of Personality Disorder and cover the main Disorders including, Borderline, Anti-Social and Schizoid. The course will also specifically explore attachment disorder, the Cycle of Dysfunction and internal/ external Locus of Control.

 
  • Participants will consider how the types of Personality Disorder can be observed as a combination of disorders including co-morbidity of additional mental health issues such as anxiety disorders and depression.
  • This training also considers how person-centred practice and understanding the Internal/ External Locus of Control works towards successful through cognitive behavioural therapy. It is important to empower professionals to make decisions which fit with ‘defensible decision making’ and effective practice utilising a multi-agency approach in supporting individuals who live with such a complex and life changing disorder.
  • This training will provide participants with an understanding of social pedagogy and how to underpin these principles and is supported through research and outcomes and how important professional boundaries are when supporting individuals.
  • This course aims to provide professionals with the skills and tools to confidently manage such a challenging area of business and is built upon reflective practice to enable positive outcomes.
  • To explore definitions and understanding of terms: relating to personality and personality disorder.
  • To explore emerging personality disorders including diagnosis, causes and support responses.
  • To look at the challenges of working with personality disorders particularly boundaries, language, and dynamics.
  • Understanding the principles of effective safeguarding management and defensible decision making.
  • Developing effective exit plans which aim to develop the internal Locus of Control as an introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Gaining an appreciation of risk models and principles which can be embedded into current organisational processes and procedures.

    Sharps and Blood Bourne Viruses

    To provide essential safety information for staff at risk from sharps and blood bourne viruses.

  • Be aware of blood bourne viruses and how you could be infected
  • Identify the hazards associated with sharps and needlesticks
  • Identify situations where you may be exposed to sharps and needle sticks and know safe precautions to take
  • Explore company policy and legal outlines on the management of sharps
  • Understand what to do if you suffer a puncture injury
  • Understand how to store and dispose of sharps and needlesticks
