Musings from a full-time working Mummy
This month has been challenging in our household. I think both myself and Lottie are definitely ready for the Christmas break, but we will have one last push over the next four weeks before we put our feet up and enjoy our time off together!
As always, comical moments have been flowing. Anyone with kids will know that one of the biggest challenges is the food shop with them in tow. A couple of weeks ago, I’m trying desperately to remember everything whilst being badgered for my phone. I finally give in and the next think I hear is, “Grandad, we’re in Aldi and I’ve picked up a steak. Can we come to your house, and you cook it because she can’t?!” – She?! She?! Needless to say, we went to my parents’ house….I had pizza that night! Total princess!
On the way home from school last week, I told Lottie that I had defrosted some chicken and asked what shall we do with it? She said, “Throw it out and order Chinese!” Really made me laugh - we had chicken pasta.
The final one this month has to be her disgust on Wednesday evening. I was preparing a curry for the office gang, and she came in the kitchen saying how good it smells. I explained that it was for work, and she asked what we were having. I told her we were having chicken kievs. Her response was “you must be joking”. Absolutely fuming, she stormed out of the room! Priceless!

Are you ready for the Protection of Premises Act?
Last week, Parliament passed the long-awaited Protection of Premises Act, formerly known as Martyn’s Law, marking a significant step forward in the UK’s approach to counter-terrorism and public safety. The Act introduces new legal duties for those responsible for publicly accessible locations to consider the threat of terrorism and implement proportionate and practical measures to keep the public safe. Central to the legislation is the requirement for robust training and preparedness plans tailored to the level of risk associated with the premises.
