Premier Partnership have been working with learners from Derby City Council who have become the first learners to embark on our CMI Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring blended workshop with virtual classroom delivery.

The Level 3 qualification in Coaching and Mentoring is designed for supervisors and first line managers, to support the development of coaching and mentoring skills and techniques of individuals, teams and achieve objectives.

Amanda Verran, Head of Business Support at Derby City Council said, “The Business Support team at Derby City Council have been working in partnership with Premier for over 18-months, who are now delivering the CMI Coaching course for 18 employees. It was anticipated that the course would be undertaken in a classroom environment during the summer of 2020 however the global pandemic caused this initial plan to be delayed. Premier kindly redesigned the outline of the course so that it could be moved online, encompassing a variety of blended learning methods. This now consists of 5 days of workshops with the cohort being broken down into 3 smaller groups of 6, made up of a leadership team that consists of a mix of senior managers, team leaders, supervisors and project officers.”

Remote working has been a challenge she continued “For over a year now the cohort have been managing their teams remotely which has brought a variety of challenges and has required them to adopt new methods to deliver their respective services. We are now in the process of preparing to bring these teams back into the office environment by the autumn and putting in place further measures to ensure personal safety and staff welfare.”

Confirming how Premier Partnership have supported their journey, Amanda said, “The re-timing of this course has turned out to be perfect and this will allow us to equip our leaders with the new people skills required in these changing times and we are grateful to Premier for helping us on this journey. “
