SFJ Awards Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training – (CET)
Overview
This course is designed to give candidates a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. They will be able to use initial and diagnostic assessments and plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning. They will also be able to assess learning and use appropriate resources to support effective learning.

Assessments and evidence:
H/505/0053 – Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
– An information leaflet assignment (500-750 words) and a reflective account (500-750 words).
A/505/1189 – Planning to needs the needs of learners in education and training
– An assignment (approx. 2000-2500 words), an initial assessment and plan completed with a learner, a Scheme of Work (SoW) with a minimum of 3 supporting session plans, a continual professional development (CPD) log and most recent performance review.
M/505/012 – Delivering education and training
– An assignment (approx. 2000-2500 words) and an observation (minimum of 1 hour).
F/505/0127 – Assessing learners in education and training
– An assignment (approx. 2000-2500 words) and an observation (minimum of 1 hour).
L/503/5387 – Using resources for education and training
– An assignment (approx. 2000-2500 words) and an observation (minimum of 1 hour).
Optional units
– Will be dependent on which are chosen.
– All units have a Statement of Authenticity.
This the mandatory element of this qualification and covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector. The 5 mandatory units are as follows, with the credits shown in brackets:
301: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (3).
401: Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training (3).
402: Delivering education and training (6) – Requires a minimum of 1 hour observation.
403: Assessing learners in education and training (6) – Requires a minimum of 1 hour observation.
404: Using resources for education and training (3) – Requires a minimum of 1 hour observation.
417: Inclusive practice (15) – Optional unit.
All learners, whether pre-service or in-service must have access to 30 hours of teaching. If you wish to chose alternative units, please contact Premier Partnership directly.

Assessment
Quantitative assessment (For example: exam, quiz, written assignments, or a risk assessment)
Requirements
- Candidates must be considering a subject for delivery and be aiming to achieve / or have achieved a qualification and/or have experience in their subject/skill at the appropriate level.
In addition, the learners must have the potential to be able to study at minimum academic level 4. Learners must be able to complete a minimum of 30 hours teaching practice throughout the duration of their qualification. Learners will be required to undertake an initial assessment of their English, mathematics and ICT skills. The nature of both the learning and assessment required for the qualification is such that candidates should have the ability to manage the requirements of the level of the qualification they are taking, read and interpret written tasks, and write answers in a legible and understandable form. Candidates will also need to be able to organise written information clearly and coherently.
