Overview
To provide delegates with the knowledge and practical abilities to demonstrate competency on the day in safe moving and handling of people techniques.
Learning
- By the end of this workshop delegates will be able to:
- Identify relevant Legislation relating to Moving and Handling.
- Identify the common hazards and symptoms of associated with musculoskeletal injuries/conditions.
- Describe the principles of safe moving and handling of people and objects.
- Identify unsafe and hazardous handling techniques.
- Understand the common risk assessment principles.
- Demonstrate competency on the day using a range of safe methods to assist service users to stand, walk, transfer and move on the bed
- both with and without equipment (including slide sheets).
- Be competent on the day to assess, fit, and attach a range of commonly used sling.
Assessment
Qualitative assessment by tutor (For example: observations or demonstrations throughout course)
