Moving and Handling of People

Overview

To provide delegates with the knowledge and practical abilities to demonstrate competency on the day in safe moving and handling of people techniques.

Learning

• By the end of this workshop delegates will be able to:
• Identify relevant Legislation relating to Moving and Handling.
• Identify the common hazards and symptoms of associated with musculoskeletal injuries/conditions.
• Describe the principles of safe moving and handling of people and objects.
• Identify unsafe and hazardous handling techniques.
• Understand the common risk assessment principles.
• Demonstrate competency on the day using a range of safe methods to assist service users to stand, walk, transfer and move on the bed
• both with and without equipment (including slide sheets).
• Be competent on the day to assess, fit, and attach a range of commonly used sling.

Qualitative assessment by tutor (For example: observations or demonstrations throughout course)
