Understanding the impact of parental mental illness
Course Overview:
The course will allow participants the opportunity to mental health condition and how this is viewed in society and equip participants with the knowledge of how to positively assess families that are effected by someone with mental health needs.
The course will also equip participants with knowledge about the effects on children and how this may contribute to them experiencing mental health needs.
The course will allow the participants to explore a range of tools to engage children in the assessment process.
The course will equip participants with knowledge of local support networks and resources available.

Have an increased knowledge of some of the major mental illnesses.
Views and values how they impact on service users and ourselves.
Have an increased understanding of the link between parental mental health and child protection.
The impact of mental health issues on both adults and children.
Look at the risk factors when undertaking a risk assessment.
