Mental Capacity Act

The object of this course is to explain the Mental Capacity Act 2005, increase delegates understanding of their legal responsibilities under the Act and the implications for their practice and that of their team/s.
Delegates will be able to –
- Identify what is meant by Mental Capacity.
- Use a framework for supporting and involving people when making decisions.
- Recognise how the Mental Capacity Act and the Code of Practice can be used to keep people safe.
- Identify the links between human rights and the Mental Capacity Act (and DoLS).
- Determine roles and responsibilities for decision making under the Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation
- Identify opportunities to improve knowledge and understanding of the Act including forthcoming amendments and current Case Law
