Overview
To build an understanding of what assertiveness is and how to demonstrate both self-confidence and assertiveness at work.
Learning
- By the end of this one-day workshop, delegates will be able to:
Outline what assertiveness is and how it differs from passive, aggressive or passive-aggressive behaviours.
Analyse the benefits of coming across assertively and confidently.
Outline how to come across assertively in both our verbal and non-verbal communication.
Demonstrate some ideas for how to say ?No? in a polite and professional way.
Show how to use a structured approach to conveying our opinions and views confidently and succinctly.
Assessment
Qualitative assessment by tutor (For example: observations or demonstrations throughout course) Pre work: To ensure that you get the most out of the training day and participate fully in all activities it is important that you complete the following activities prior to attending the course:
– Personal Assertiveness Self-Assessment.
– Bolton and Bolton Social Styles at Work Questionnaire.
