Course Overview
To introduce industry standard certificate for health and safety practitioners, offering a valuable overview of the core aspects of occupational health and safety. Course comprised of two units, GNC1 and GNC2 practical unit.

By the end of this course delegates will understand:

- The scope, duties and offences of employers, managers and employees.Â
- The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.Â
- The legal framework for the regulation of health and safety includes sources and types of law.Â
- How to plan and implement an effective health and safety policy.Â
- How to Influence behaviour to create a positive Health & Safety culture throughout an organisation.Â
- How to undertake risk assessments and accident investigations and recommend suitable action.Â
- How to undertake a health and safety audit.
- Hazards and risk control.Â
- Transport hazards and risk control.Â
- Musculoskeletal hazards and risk control.Â
- Work equipment hazards and risk control.Â
- Electrical safety.Â
- Fire safety.Â
- Chemical and biological hazards and risk control.Â
- Physical and psychological hazards and risk control.
Assessment
GNC1
- ELEMENT 1: Why We Should Manage Workplace Health and Safety
- ELEMENT 2: How Health and Safety Management Systems Work and What They Look Like
- ELEMENT 3: Managing Risk – Understanding People and Processes
- ELEMENT 4: Health and Safety Monitoring and Measuring
This unit has an Open Book Exam. You would have 24 hours to complete a scenario based exam.
GNC2
- ELEMENT 5: Physical and psychological health
- ELEMENT 6: Musculoskeletal health
- ELEMENT 7: Chemical and biological agents
- ELEMENT 8: General workplace issues
- ELEMENT 9: Work equipment
- ELEMENT 10: Fire
- ELEMENT 11: Electricity
This unit has a detailed risk assessment to be completed after the course.
Tutor led presentation with group work, individual exercises and home study.
NEBOSH accrediting body examination and practical assessment GNC1 45% pass mark and GNC2 60% pass mark
Any exam unit re-sits would need to be registered with NEBOSH and this results in an additional cost.
