Manual Handling – Train the Trainer

Overview

To engage staff in understanding the principles and practice of safe manual handling and enable them to be equipped to effectively pass this knowledge onto others.

Learning

• By the end of this workshop delegates will be able to:
• Understand the reasons for reducing risk to the lowest possible level, by applying correct manual handling techniques,
• Understand dynamic risk assessment in relation to manual handling,
• Understand the different learning styles and how to facilitate learning to all,
• Understand the principles of Tell, Show, Do,
• Present a Manual Handling course to colleagues effectively.

Tutor-led workshop with delegate participation in the delivery of a mini presentation session.

Suitable for all staff who may provide Manual Handling guidance to colleagues.

Assessment

Qualitative assessment by tutor (For example: observations or demonstrations throughout course)
