This course is for health and safety professionals and other workers who are involved in ensuring that that their organisation has considered and addressed the threat of terrorism in premises open to the public.

This three-day course will help you:

Understand terrorism and its legal context.Empty heading

• Recognise the nature of terrorism, including motivations and common ideologies.
• Understand relevant legislation, health and safety frameworks, and the role of enforcement agencies

Assess the potential terrorism threat facing your organisation

• Interpret national terrorism threat levels and intelligence guidance to support proportionate, context-specific decisions.
• Identify site-specific vulnerabilities.

Identify protective procedures and measures and the appropriate emergency response

• Implement effective anti-terrorism protection procedures and the appropriate emergency response.
• Communicate and coordinate with emergency services and other agencies.
• Select and justify layered protective security measures using established models.

Achieve compliance and post-incident actions

• Document protection procedures and conduct assessments to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate risks, and prioritise controls.
• Outline immediate and longer-term organisational actions following a terrorist incident, including investigation, staff welfare, and continuous improvement.

Promote a positive security cultureEmpty heading

• Recognise the importance of effective leadership and engaging workers at all levels.

How is the qualification assessed?Empty heading

The assessment is a multiple format assessment using scenario-based questions testing the application of knowledge.

The assessment must be accessed and completed via NEBOSH’s Online Assessment Platform and completed within a 24-hour assessment window. These assessments will also be remotely proctored to ensure their integrity.
